Inclusive Church

On the 8th of December 2023, St Matthew and St Luke officially became part of the Inclusive Church Network. Ratified by our PCC, we have adopted the Network's official statement on inclusivity which is printed below.

Everyone is welcome to our church regardless of their background - all are created euqal in the eyes of God. We hope that you will see evidence of this commitment in all aspects of our church's activities, and that when you visit our church, you will feel welcome and at home.

However, it is important to acknowledge that we are always learning, so if you have any feedback on how we can expand our reach in terms of inclusivity, please let us know.

Inclusive Church's Mission Statement

"We believe in inclusive church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate.

"We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.

"We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ."
