We are delighted to be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Mothers' Union.

The worldwide organisation began in a very small way by Mary Sumner, the wife of a parish priest.

Mary wanted to help local women come together to help each other in bringing up of their children in love and friendship, and to help those whose lives have met with adversity. We still hold these same values today.

There will be celebration around the world, as the 8 million members in 80 countries give thanks and celebrate.

The 150th anniversary in Briton and Ireland was marked by a service in St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday 10th of June at 5 o’clock. Arrangements were made to live stream the service via Mothers' Union Facebook page.

The main worldwide gathering will be held in Durban.

A Prayer for June

Father God, we join in and celebrate your love to us through Mothers‘ Union. We praise You for the past 150 years, and we thank You for the opportunity to give our joyful thanks and praise to You through our celebrations this month. Amen.
